SerenoCem^™ Otologic Bone Cement

SerenoCem™ was designed specifically for non-weight bearing applications in otologic surgery including:

• Reconstrution of the ossicular chain where cement can be used to repair the bony ossicles in their normal position
• Acoustic meatal wall reconstruction
• Cementation of cochlear implant electrodes

SerenoCem™ meets a clinical need in otologic reconstruction surgery, where increasingly sophisticated surgical techniques require new methods of stabilizing implanted devices and bony fragments and for use in the reconstruction and obliteration from a European-wide research project aimed at providing otologists with a material that met the increasing demands in hard tissue replacement. SerenoCem is intended for exclusive use by licensed otologic surgeons.

Biocompatibility/Clinical Data

Set cement rapidly becomes surrounded by a layer of relatively mature bone. Tests conducted with completely hardened cement show a distinct inertia and biocompatibility of the material including its complete integration into the bone structure. Interaction MRI

SerenoCem™ is MRI-compatible. Image quality may be impeded in direct vicinity of implant; radiopacity is comparable to bone. Patients with cochlear implants MUST NOT BE EXPOSED TO MRI!

SerenoCem™ Granules

SerenoCem™ Granules is an ideal material for use in the obliterated areas such as the mastoid cavity where the cement cannot be used due to the presence of fluids. The granules encourage osteointergration and therefore provide a simple effective method for this procedure. Unlike bone pate the granules do not shrink when placed in the cavity so you can be confident the material will stay instituted.
